Northern Cape Province
ECDworks recently facilitated a workshop with officials from the Departments of Education and Social Development, as well as from the Independent Development Trust in the province.
The workshop was aimed at informing participants of the value of appropriate learning resources for young children in ECD centres and Grade R classes. The importance of learning through play and selecting resources that provide children with stimulating learning opportunities was emphasised. Through practical demonstrations, participants gained insight into how educational resources assist children in developing their potential, and assist the educators with the curriculum and achieving the required outcomes.

ECDworks is currently providing follow-up support to officials in order to resource ECD centres and Grade R classes in the Northern Cape Province.

This month ECDworks is sponsoring a Music Competition in partnership with CCT – the aim of which is to encourage ECD students to demonstrate the creative use of musical instruments in the daily programme. The panel of judges has been selected from the Department of Social Development, CCT and ECDworks. Prizes include cash, Learning Support Materials, first aid training and beauty treatments – good luck to all participants!
